Novello Furniture was opened in 1981 by Edward Polli, a second-generation furniture retailer originally from Bradford, Vermont. Ed grew up working from the bottom up at A.E. Hale Furniture Company, which was owned by his father, Vincent.
The name Novello was coined by Ed’s maternal grandmother, Lucia Leani, of northern Italian decent. In Italian, Novello means something “new and fresh”. At Novello we strive to offer traditional and fresh ideas for your home.
In the early years, Novello was a contract furniture company, installing model homes and outfitting second-home developments from Jay Peak to Sugarbush to Stratton Mountain. The idea was to make life simple and create a furniture package that allowed the owner to walk in with a bag of groceries and start living. A designer was available as well to work with the owner and develop a custom package. In 1988 we built our current 24,000 square-foot office and showroom space. Our philosophy continues to focus on presenting quality retail furniture and design services to everyone who walks through the door.
Ed reveals: “What is important to me is being able to offer the latest designs at the best prices. I constantly shop several furniture markets to achieve the best value for our customers without sacrificing quality. We have a very committed staff, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years. Their dedication to helping the customer find the right pieces to make their house a home is part of what we do best. In addition, any successful furniture operation includes servicing what we sell – we have a trained furniture repair expert available to all of our customers.”
